In addition to angular error correction and a damping function, the Hardy disk has another task: it provides acoustic decoupling of the driveline from the body and thus reduces noise. A defective hard disk generates precisely these noises and vibrations, plus play during load changes. The latter makes for a dull rumble when starting off. A bent cardan shaft or a defective universal joint result in the worst case from a defective Hardy disk. The hardy disc is suitable for all four-wheel drive vehicles of the PQ35 platform as well as some TDI and 1.8T 20V models, such as Golf 6 R, Leon Cupra, S3 etc..
